It’s Just A threat
2 Kings 18:17-36; 19: 1-7
Surely I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land (2 Kings19:7).
One of the reasons we read and study the Bible is to gain understanding and learn life’s principles we can apply to
our lives and live a god-fearing and victorious life.
Friend, we know these principles through knowledge. It means that the more we know the word of God and apply its truth, the more we would live the way God wants us to live. See Acts 20:32. The Bible says, “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3).
The passage we read shows us how Sennacherib harassed, accused and intimidated the men of Judah and King Hezekiah. Sennacherib threatened them with all manner of evil. God foiled his plans and what he intended to do did not happen.
How did his threats become futile?
- King Hezekiah took the case to God. He asked Him to take over and remove the reproach.
- God sent a word of comfort and hope to them.
- God fought for them. He thwarted Sennacherib’s plan.
Friend, when you are faced with a similar situation, draw the line and tell yourself, “It is just a threat. The Name of the Lord will be glorified and I will be the victor and not the victim”. In the end you will win. Shalom
Your Turn
- Pray as you have been challenged by the word of God.
- Pray that you will be bold to know what to do when you are faced with the enemy’s threats.
