How Much More?

Luke 11:9-13
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!
(Luke 11:13).

Today’s passage never ceases to amaze me. In it, I see a God who is so sure of Himself and what He can do that He commands us to ask. He is not a king over a region but the God of the universe, the creator of all things.

Verses 11-12 reveal the mind of God to us. Jesus told his audience, “If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?  Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?” Friend, God is a good God. He does no man evil. See James 1:13-17.

Let us challenge ourselves to return to simple faith. Let us remove all the unnecessary theories, theology or teachings about God which are not helping our faith. Read and study the word of God. Take it as it is – the word of God. Then ask Him to fulfill His word in your life.

He said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (vs. 13). The ball is in our court. What are we going to do about it?
