Consider The Poor
Psalm 41:1-3
Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble (Psalm 41:1).
A sister in the fellowship asked Auntie Julie for help. She did not have enough but she gave out of her little resources to help. She did the right thing because the Bible says, “He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given” (Proverbs 19:17).
The Psalm 41 reminds us of the need to bless the poor around us. When we do this, we position ourselves for more blessings from the Lord. The Bible says, “Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble” (Psalm 41:1, New Living Translation). These joys include:
- Joy of giving. The satisfaction that comes from giving is You feel good and at peace that you have done the right thing.
- Divine rescue. Verse 1.
- Divine protection and preservation. Verse 2.
- Divine prosperity. God rewards you for your kindness to the poor. Verse 2.
- Deliverance from your enemies. Verse 2.
- Divine care .Verse 3.
- Divine healing. Verse 3.
Friend, if the above reasons are not enough to motivate us to care for the poor, I do not know what else would. Think on these benefits and ask the Lord to guide you in your next encounter of giving. Shalom.
