Is Your Church In Christ?

1 Thessalonians 1:1
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The happenings around the world in our time necessitates today’s question: Is your church in Christ? Daily, we are realizing that many congregations gather to worship but Christ is not at the center of their worship.

The dictionary defines “church” as a noun to mean a service conducted in a house of worship, a place for public (especially Christian) worship. But it appears this is changing. Recently we heard of a prostitution cartel in Lagos, Nigeria, that camouflages the venue as a church so they would not be detected by law enforcement agents. We hear of synagogues and church of satan.

Friend, you need to be sure that your church is in Christ. Therefore, it was not out of place for Paul to write “To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 1:1).

A church of Christ must be a group of people, a congregation that gathers to worship the Living God and His Son Jesus Christ. They must recognize His Lordship as the Savior, the Great Shepherd and the Lord of His congregation. His word, the Holy Bible, must be the guiding law.

If this is not followed you need to check again if you are meeting with people who are in Christ as you are. May the Lord help us to discern this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Your Turn
