Stand Firm

2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.

Today’s Bible passage focuses on the issues earlier examined in the church. In his conclusion, Paul encouraged the readers to stand firm, focus on Christ and trust His wisdom with regard to His second coming.

How can they do this? By holding on to the teachings they have received. He said, “So, brothers and sisters, stand strong and continue to believe the teachings we gave you in our speaking and in our letter” (2 Thessalonians 2:15, New Century Version).

This verse lends credence to the words of Christ in John 8:32. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. We must seek to know the truth so that we can be set free. We must hold fast to the teachings we have heard so that we are not deceived by New Age teachings and false doctrines about Christ and His Second Coming.

We hold on to the Rhema and logos of the word of God so that we can be thoroughly furnished and prepared for the future and the promise of Christ.

Christ has not returned. He is coming back. When He returns we shall all see Him and be raptured to meet Him in the air. This is the truth we must hold on to. May the Lord strengthen our faith in the truth in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Your Turn

  • Pray and ask for the strength that you need to stand firm in Christ and in His word.
