He Will Be Overthrown
2 Thessalonians 2:5-12; Revelation 20:1-10
And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming (Revelation 20:8, NIV).
Jesus Christ’s breath and glory will destroy satan and his agents. We have nothing to worry about because the Lord’s power and strength is able to perform what He plans to do. The Bible says, “And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming (vs.8, NIV).
Satan will appear to wreak havoc as planned and recorded in the Scriptures. His goal is to destroy the unbelieving and those who refused to love Jesus and receive the truth about salvation and be saved. The rest of us who know Jesus will not be a partaker of this.
We rejoice and wait patiently for the will of God to prevail in our world. We rest in peace because we know the Lord will protect us and keep His people. We endure the lawlessness that we see in our world because the time is not ripe for our Lord’s return. God will release the enemy for the final onslaught. Then the end would come.
How? Satan will be captured. “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).
Think on these things. Hold on to the truth. Shalom.
