Lead A Quiet Life
1 Thessalonians 4:11
Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life. You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you.
An ambition is a desire to do or achieve something.
The Bible says, “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life” (1 Thessalonians 4:11). It means it is a choice we have to make to live a quiet life as the Lord requires of us.
A quiet life is a life that is not easily angered or offended. A quiet person also chooses to forgive so that peace can reign. To be quiet does not mean one is stupid. It only means that you value peace above all other things in life. This is how we are advised to live.
It is not a godly value for a believer to be found among troublemakers in their home, neighborhood, school or at work. We are not to be busy bodies as well. When we think on these things it becomes obvious that many of us still have a long way to go. Not only that, we have a lot to learn and change in our lives too.
Penn writes, “True silence is the rest of the mind, and is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment. It is a great virtue; it covers folly, keeps secrets, avoids disputes, and prevents sin”. Let us turn to the Lord in prayers and ask Him for His help.
