It Is Give And Take

1  Thessalonians 3:8-10
Night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith (1 Thessalonians 3:10).

Reading through these verses I see a symbiotic relationship between Paul, his team and the Thessalonian church. I see a give and take scenario.

From the passage Paul observed that the commitment of the Thessalonian church to spiritual growth and steadfast walk of faith influenced their commitment to them too. They said, “For what thanks can we render to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sake before our God. Night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith” (1 Thessalonians 3: 9-10).

Their prayer was inspired by the Thessalonians’ walk with God. Paul and his friends received joy and in turn offered prayers to God on their behalf and look for more ways to bless them. This is how it ought to be. Friend, no relationship grows to its fullest potential without each party bringing something to the table.

I am sure that the hearts of many pastors and leaders will resonate with this passage. A parent would also rejoice to see their children do well and they will pray more for them. Friend, can we use some wisdom here? I believe we can. May the Lord fill us and teach us more of His ways. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Is your life inspiring others to pray for you, draw nearer  to you to mentor you?
  • Are you so full of yourself that others are prevented from coming closer?
  • How can you improve your relationships within your fellowships?

Hymn: All for love the father gave.
