It Is A Community

1 Thessalonians 3:6-8
For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord (1 Thessalonians 3:8).

As a teenager, I remember my church’s Area Pastor had a slogan “Watch me, I watch you”. The meaning is that we must be responsible for one another and encourage one another to live right as followers of Christ.

It has been many years now but I find the slogan to be relevant in our time. Paul and his friends understood its importance. The letter to the Thessalonians demonstrated the fact that their joy increased when their disciples and the churches they planted did well.

They wrote to them saying, “Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your faith and love… brethren, in all our affliction and distress we were comforted concerning you by your faith” (1Thessalonians 3:6- 7). What a community sense! They were comforted because they heard that their friends awere growing in the faith.

How can we apply this to our time? How can we live a life that contributes to the wellbeing of our church community? Can it be said of us that because of our faith others are standing firm in the Lord?

Will our leaders be bold to say, “Sister, I am comforted because of your faith in Christ”. These and many more are truths we need to reflect on as we seek ways to apply the truth of the word of God to our lives. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • In what ways can you apply today’s message to your life?
  • How can you ensure that you stand so that your life can bring encouragement to others?
  • Pray for yourself and your family.

Hymn: O worship the King, all glorious above.
