Look Forward To This
1 John 3:1-9
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is (1 John 3:2, KJV ).
Friend, what you look forward to is what you get. What you work towards is what you become. When we keep the word of God before us, our heart desire will be stirred towards seeing its fulfillment in our lives.
The Bible says, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2, KJV). Wow! That is a promise to focus on. When we do, we will be motivated to be like Jesus, experience Him and please Him.
You see, if we fix our eyes and heart on pleasing God when it comes to the matter of sin, I know His Spirit will help us to hate sin and pursue holiness. His power in us will supply the grace to withstand sin. The more we love the Lord and His word, and make pleasing Him our daily desire, the more sin will lose its appeal and grip on you.
When Paul thought that he was too weak to cope with life, God told him, “My grace is sufficient for you”. That same grace is available to us today. We can ask God for it. Let us pray.
Your Turn
- Praise God for this word of life.
- Pray for the grace that you need to overcome sin.
- Pray that your desire will be to see the Lord on the last day.
Song: How great is our God. Sing with me how great is our God.
