Be Vigilant

Mark 14:1-2
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

Let us be vigilant and pay attention this month. Satan the accuser of the brethren is not relenting in his efforts to see that we are destroyed. Remember, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10a). His mission remains the same.

The Bible says, “After two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death” (Mark 14:1). The enemy would try us with the same bait. Jesus knew the game and the bait being put forward. Many times He avoided them. See Luke 4:28-30.

We must learn from Him and be vigilant in all our affairs. I seem to hear someone ask, “How can I be more vigilant”?

  1. Pay attention to what you say and where you go. The       enemy will seek to catch you through your words and                your associations. They would seek to misquote or                misrepresent what you say.
  2. Seek to be a person of peace. You do not have to win every argument. Sometimes silence is better in winning the battle of life.
  3. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as He leads you on a daily basis.
  4. Trust God to protect and keep you safe. He is our shepherd.

Shalom.
