Guard What You Have
2 Timothy 1:13-14; 1 John 2:21
Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you (2 Timothy 1:14, NASB).
Another way we can contend for the faith is to guard what we have jealousy. What do we have?
- We have the Holy Spirit who teaches us all truth. The Bible says, “Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you” (vs. 14, NASB).
- We know and we have the truth. By relying on the Holy Spirit we can continue to live in the truth and learn more about God’s word and its truth.
- The word of God is the treasure that we have. We must not allow anyone to take it away from us. We must be sober and alert to false teachers that may want to confuse us.
- We have the sound words because we have been taught by the Lord and His Spirit in us. See 1 John 2:27. The Spirit of truth is in us and He teaches us.
- We have God. The Bible says, “We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error” (1 John 4:6).
There are many more but I believe these ones will give you a start to think more deeply about what you have in Christ so you can guard them.
Your Turn
- Pray for the grace to guard what He has given you.
- Pray for my family that we will guard all that we have received from the Lord. Thank you.
