Claim It Correctly

Psalm 102:1-22
You will arise  and have compassion on Zion,    for it is time to show favor to her;  the appointed time has come ( Psalm 102:13, NIV ).

Today’s text is a popular one but many of us have not paid attention to the next verse. The reason the writer asked the Lord to arise and favor Zion is because her stones are dear to His servants. The Bible says, “For Your servants take pleasure in her stones, and show favor to her dust” (Psalm 102: 14).

This talks about the kingdom attitude of God’s servants. This could be linked to Matthew 6:33. These servants were kingdom seekers. The house of God became their concern. They were ready to do anything to maintain its honor and glory.

The question for us today is: Do we have the same attitude? Or we just want God to bless us and whatever happens to the expansion of His kingdom is none of our business? Are we concerned about kingdom service? Are we actively and intentionally seeking the lost so that we can depopulate hell and bring glory to God’s Name?

When you ask God for favor be sure that you have concern for His cause on earth too. This is not advocating performance based Christianity. Rather, it is emphasizing the need for us to do our part if we want to enjoy more of God’s blessings. He who has ears let him hear. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Glorify the name of the Lord for this insight from His word.
  • Pray for yourself to apply what you have learnt as you serve the Lord and enjoy His favor.

Song:  Open the eye of my heart, Lord.
