Pursue A Good Name
Proverbs 22:1
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold (God’s Word Translation).
With the happenings in our world and within the church, I believe it is time to choose to pursue keeping a good name. The Bible says, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold” (God’s Word Translation).
We need a good name so that we can bring glory to God. We need a good name to match our desire for holiness. Let us not be found deficient in seeking to develop a good name. Let us not be found among those who bring shame and disgrace to the body of Christ. This will be counterintuitive to the preaching of the gospel.
In as much as we are not sinless, we should not make it a habit of doing things or living a life God frowns at or that causes others to fall from the grace of God. We must be alert to how we behave both in public and in private.
It is also the season to show respect and be courteous to others. This is becoming a lost virtue in our generation. But that is not what the Lord expects of us. We must put on good behaviors. You can never go wrong with humility and respect. It has its own wage and you will be paid your dividend when you least expect. Think on these things.
